40th Annual

Picture
The Boca Raton Firefighter & Paramedic Benevolent is proud to host the 40th Annual Boca Burn Softball Tournament in the beautiful city of Boca Raton. This tournament helps to raise funds for the Children's Burn Foundation of Florida, currently well over $175,000 since the tournament's inception. Teams of Firefighters & Police from all over South Florida will battle it out over 2 days to determine who is the Boca Burn Champion. We invite everyone to come out and enjoy a great day of sport, food, and entertainment. Get your tournament T-shirts early as these hot ticket items sell out fast.
This year's event will be held on April 18-19th, 2020 (April 17th if we allow more than 27 teams) at the Spanish River Athletic Complex (DeHoernle Park) located at 1500 NW Spanish River Blvd, Boca Raton, FL 33431.

History of the Boca Burn

In 1980 the first Boca Raton Fire Fighters Charity Softball Tournament commenced at Meadows Park with our leader Zane Emerson and his hearty volunteers in tow. Initially, the Miami Dolphins would play the first game for the series. Multiple fire fighter teams across the state, sprinkler companies and police department’s teams participated. The funds raised were donated to the Burn Center of Miami Jackson Hospital. In 1986, we moved to Patch Reef Park and added Don Estridge's softball field when it became available for our use. Since the beginning, we provide a wonderful picnic to all the participants and volunteers.
In 1994, with Chief John G. Withrow's blessing, we started donating the funds raised from the softball tournament to the Children's Burn Foundation of Florida, Inc. In 2000, John Luca invited New York City Fire Fighters to our softball tournament. Our 2002 tournament was most memorable since it was just months after the 9/11 attacks. The public came out in droves. In 2011, we started to supply our own bats for all the games for safety and fairness to all the teams. Our tournament is considered the premier tournament event in the State of Florida.
